QuestionI have a 60 Gallon tank, in the tank are; 5 Green Severums, 1 Parrot Fish, 4 Bala Sharks, 3 Giant Danios, 2 Rainbow Fish, 1 Neon Tetra, 2 Guppies. I really would like to add a school of Neon Tetras to give the tank a nice look/color. However the Green Severums were the last fish to enter the tank and ever since that the Parrot fish was rather aggressive mainly towards that Green Severums. I was thing if I do put a school of Neon Tetras in now will the Parrot fish turn on them and eat them all? If you believe that the tetras will be considered feeder food for the Green Severums and Parrot fish, what may be an alternative solution for adding color?
AnswerHi Chad,
If you put in a school of neon tetras I suspect it will be just a matter of minutes before your other fish eat them --Ten minutes tops.
So I wouldn't do that. Once you decide to go with larger predatory fish like the severums and/or the parrot fish, you really can't add small fish like neon tetras. I suspect your existing guppies won't last long either. As for color, when green severums grow up they are quite beautiful in their own right.
