my beta fish / a bump dealing with him

i have this beta fish and he has lived for like 1 or 2 years old and i was just wondering what could the bump be because i am very worried he might die.becasue that's what my mom says that's what might be the problem

Hi Elizabeth,
It is very difficult to know exactly what the bump could be.  It could be a tumor, and it could be cancerous, or it may not be cancerous.  Bettas may live long, and happy lives with non cancerous tumors, just like we do.   It could also be something else.
You did not mention where this bump is located on the Betta.  Is he eating well?  If not, write back to me with more details so I can help you.  Tell me the size of his tank, the water temperature, how much, and what you feed him, and your water chemistry.  I need more details to help you, and your pet.
