Question
My beta fish has completely lost its pretty maroonish-red color. It has this greyish color all around its mouth and head. I have been treating it with splendid beta beta remedy. Now it just stays at the bottom of the tank and is not eating any of the food. it comes up only when i put in the food. i change the water every week generally. please help me.

Answer
Hello Lynn-

A pale grey face is indicative of cold water. Do you have a heater, lamp, or heating pad attached to the tank somehow? If not, you should think about one. Bettas do best between 78-80 F, but can survive anywhere between 70-80 F. Anything in the 60's is not good and may kill your fish.

Continue with the medicine and the water changes, but don't add anymore food until your little one comes looking for it. Uneaten food will dirty the water more quickly, creating a need for more water changes.

Are there any other symptoms, like a slimy coating or white fuzz? Hope this is useful,
