Question
hi, i am so sorry about asking about saltwater, but no other person does. anyway i have a 29 gallon saltwter aquarium with a 5 inch snowflake eel tha i just got. i know that the tank is too small but in a month or two i will be upgrading to a 75 gallon. well right when i put him in the tank he went into the rocks and he hasnt come out the whole time, but i will occasionally see his head, but sometimes i cant find him for up to five minutes. thanks for the help. marcus.

Answer
Hi Marcus,
The snowflake eel is a predator, but less aggressive than other salt water morays.  He has poor eyesight, but a keen sense of smell.  When feeding him, he aggressively comes out of his hiding in search for the food.  The snowflake eel will eat fish, squid, clams, and crabs.  He has sharp teeth.  He usually ignores tankmates if he is well fed. I repeat, "usually."  He sometimes goes into hibernation, hiding, and not eating for for several weeks or more.
He grows rapidly, so you may need a 75 gallon tank very soon!
