swordtail breeding

Are the female swordfish always in heat or how long is their female cycle???
Can the male stress the female if he is chasing her? Should she be separated if possible??
Are there signs to watch for with in two or three days of her giving birth??
What is a good diet for the female so she can have her fry and not died??

Hi,
Females are under constant stress from males and they are ALWAYS trying to breed, even if the females are gravid. I recommend separating the female after spawning. If you look closely, the female's gravid spot will begin to swell and move right before she is about to drop her fry. As for diet, anything works.
