wont stop laying eggs

ok.. my parakeet keeps laying eggs and they are infertile since there is no male. I put some nesting material in her cage but all she did was throw it in a corner and take a bite out of my finger. What should I do to make her stop? Can it be stopped? Is this even normal? Help!!!

Hello Melissa! Heres what you can do to fool her. Buy some fake eggs (some times pet stores sell keet fake eggs or even fake finch eggs, finch eggs will do. but if they are not available to you, most craft stores sell fake eggs) Place about 3 fake eggs where she usually lays. Then each day add a new egg until their is 5 or 6 eggs. She will think they are real and sit on them. Eventually when the never hatch she will get bored and give up. Also remove all the places that she uses to nest. I'm trying to get my keets to stop laying eggs and the fake egg method works really well! good luck.
