My looney bird

Question
Hi Tara thank you for your time. My father in law found a peach face lovebird in his back yard, and ofcourse I took it. I've never owned a bird. My bird is very friendly with my husband and I except for the bad biting. We got him another bird, they do not get along at all. She is very nervous and crazy. You cannot even get close to her cage without her losing 10 feathers. She is so paranoid I don't know what to do. She also eats all the wood from her perch, which worries me. Give me any advice. My husband wants me to get rid of the bird, but that is not an option for me. I have Piti for 3 months and princess for 2. Sincerely Wilma
P.s. piti hates her too.

Answer
Hello Wilma and thank you for your question.

I am wondering if love birds are native to where you live? there could be a possiblity that this was a wild lovebird if they come from where you live. The best thing for this little bird I think would be a large cage, lots of fun chewy toys the toys with wooden colored bits on them and rope, some birds love bells as well, a good varied diet and should otherwise be left alone, you can scare her to death if she doesnt want to be handled birds can take panic attacks. If the other bird isnt getting alnog with her there needs to be a different cage involved for one of them. Love birds are normaly very picky about who they befriend both birds and humans so I wouldnt be surrpirzed if they hated each other lol. If they aren't getting along and you leave them together they will stress each other out, love birds do NOT need to be kept in pairs it is an old wise tial that the love bird will die without a partner it is simply not true as long as the bird has something to do it will not become lonely enoguh to die. Good luck with your little birdy's, feel free to ask any further questions.
