Housing birds together

Question
We have had a lovebird for several years. He has been the only bird for that time.  We have been thinking of getting a cockatiel,and would like to know if they could be housed together?  I think the lovebird is male, but I'm not sure.

Hello lovebirds are known to be agressive to other birds even other lovebirds....I have heard nothing but bad stories from lovies being kept with other birds... its best to get another male lovebird and keep them side by side for sometime before introducing them...otherwise they'd fight...and a male/female pair will beed.
