Question
suddenly this morning my keet clover started flying erractly and falling to the floor.  by the time i picked her up and got her to the vet, she was gone.  the vet said she had a stroke.  she was only 4 yrs. old.  is this a commen thing in birds?  my heart is broken and my little boy floyd is beside himself without her.  they were free flyers and never left each others side.
if you could maybe give me a little information on this i would be very happy.
we cremated her and sent her to the sky where she belongs.
thank you,

Answer
Dorie,

I'm so sorry about the loss of Clover.  I cannot tell you if it is common for a budgie to have a stroke.  I have never seen a bird have a stroke, but I've had birds die when I haven't been around and, not having had a necropsy (bird autopsy), I am not sure how they died.

Clover is flying free, and will be waiting for you and your family at the Rainbow Bridge.

Blessings,

Cindy
