How much riding is ok?

Question
I have had two horses for about 8 years. The past few years I have not been able to ride as much just having small children. I have decided to let 3 qualified people ride my horses to keep them riddin reguarly while I can do it very often. How do I schedule the ride. How much should each horse be ridden, trained. Is every day to much or better. How long should they ride. Should I start slow then build.

Answer
I definitely think you should gradually increase the rides.  You don't want to strain your animals and create injuries or or other health issues.  How much riding the horses get is entirely dependent on your future needs and goals.  If you are not competing your horses and are just looking for a regular routine to keep them fit and happy, then I would suggest 3-5 rides a week for about 45 minutes to an hour each ride.  If the horses get a lot of turnout then 3 times a week will be sufficient.  The less turnout they have the more riding they might need.  You could easily start them out at 3 times a week for 20 minute rides and increase the time up to 45 minutes 5 days a week.  Doing so will keep them fit and happy.
