horse taking a bit

Question
I have an 18 year old mare that I just got 2 weeks ago and she will not take a bit in her mouth without a fight and it is not fun for either of us.
When I got her she was a different mare now that I have her at my place she is stubborn and heard bound, but that being said she fights me constantly on a bit. I had her teeth checked and there does not seem to be any pain issues. Please help this is too frustrating for the both of us. thanks.
