how long in your opinion should it take to train an 8 year old mare that has had two colts, for being able to ride her?

Hi Daniel...

You didn't express your skill level and a lot of missing variables.  If you have an 8 year old mare that was never broken to ride - start over --- go find one that is already trained to ride.  This 8 year old has had her own way for a long time and I detect you're a novice rider perhaps and not a trainer .... this could be pretty frustrating for all parties concerned.  If you do decide to proceed - please enlist the services of a qualified trainer.
