Question
QUESTION: If I take my horse to our (Westmoreland County, PA) country fair, what kind of horse judging goes on their??? The paper just says light horse judging, but is it more like a halter class or a showmanship class??

ANSWER: Hi JoAnne,
Are you going to be showing 4H or open classes? From my experiences' the judges will be more lenient towards 4H kids. The open classes are mostly adults and the judges will be judging them more harshly. Do you know if its 4H or open?

QUESTION: Well, 9 out of 10 horses are 4-H horses, but sometimes you have a few adults, so it is considered open

Answer
Hi JoAnne,
All judges are different IMO. Usually before the day of showing starts the judges will go over what they are looking for. Sometimes they don't do this, and they leave you hanging. Since this is the fair, then there could be people there who have had these judges before. Its always good to talk with these people and find out the experiences with the judges. Good luck :)
