Questionhello, i believe that improper saddling as well as unsuitable saddles may lead to shoulder problems in horses. am i correct?
AnswerDear Rohit,
An improperly fitting saddle may impede freedom of movement through the shoulder (possibly resulting in a shortened stride) but it is more likely that an ill-fit would cause back soreness. A certified saddle fitter can usually determine if your saddle is fitting correctly. If the shoulder issue subsides when not using the suspect saddle- it could be the culprit. However- lameness that lasts for more than a few days, is recurrent, or is becoming worse, should be checked out by a veterinarian.
Hope this helps.
