hello Dorothy. do show jumping coach/trainers hire show jumpers to ride their horses in the shows or the show jumper must start his own business of purchasing horses and keeping under a coach?

Most show jumpers are sponsored by some wealthy person or corporation who pay the cost of and the upkeep for and the entry fees.  A rider is lucky to get a sponsor.

Most of the riders are paying the coaches for lessons, horse training, board and keep of the horse and themselves.

The chance of someone paying you to ride their horse is nil.
