Horse udder problems???

Question
Well i got a horse that was pregnant and the vet guessed mid june to be her due date. she has foaled before we believe and the vet thinks she is an older mare like 20 years old. all was going well and she was bagging up normally. i check her bag every morning and the liquid is clear coming out. her bag seemed healthy and all of a sudden today both sides of her udder were VERY hard and it was VERY hard to get liquid out she has not waxed yet and the fluid (about 3 drops) i did get was clearish yellow and sticky (the usual). the top sides of the udder are loose and don't feel full. any guesses on what's wrong??

Answer
Could be an infection. Could be a hormonal issue. You need to call your vet and ask for a pre-foaling checkup.  She is close to foaling. Some horses, like one of mine, does just the opposite of what others do. When she is pregnant, she is calm and loving to people. When she is not pregnant, she is a nightmare. Ask the vet to be safe. It might also be an issue with a problem of the unborn foal's health. Good luck and best of luck with the new foal.
