Pneumonia?

Question
I can't tell if my baby RES has Pneumonia or not. I had him for a month now, but starting about 2 days ago, he has been acting strange. He rarely swims, and when he does, he floats and his behind sticks out of the water. Plus he isn't eating, but doesn't have any other Pneumonia symptoms as far as I know. By the way, he is in a tank with cichlid fish. I've never seen them bother him, but could one of them have attacked him and made him this way? Please help, I've grown attached to this turtle and don't want to lose him.

Answer
This sounds like a sign of either pneumonia or another lung disorder... although it is possibly a digestive issue and the intestines are filled with gas (a sign of which is the hind end floating.)

Usually, the best way to deal with this is through good general cares- review the cares you are offering and see if there is anything to tweak- temps, diet, etc.

A good site to start with is http://www.redearslider.com It is a great site for this species!
