Question
Hello, I have had my turtle for a little over a year. He was found on the side of the road. I have a small problem with him one of his front claws has fallen our of his front foot and it is now swollen. I do not have a vet near me that will see turtles and I really don't want anything to happen to him. So i am wondering if there is something i can do to help him at home.  Please Help!!!!!
Thanks so much Alicia

Answer
Basic wound care would be to swab it with providone iodine (Betadine Solution) and let the stuff dry for an hour before returning him to a warm (80-85F), clean tank of water.

If the wound is still oozing, dab it with cornstarch. If it looks red or raw, dab it with antibiotic ointment.

If the swelling continues, or turns red or develops puss, you will need to try to find a vet of some sort.
