myths related to aquarium green turtles

i recently bought a green turtle for my aquarium. every one told me that it brings bad luck to its owner, i wanted to know how far its true or just a rumor! people in india say keeping a turtle ruins everything!!
please guide me.

Hello Neelanjan,

I haven't heard of any Indian rumor, I'm afraid. But there is actually an ancient Chilean hearsay about turtles and it says that any person that kills a turtle will be strucked with bad luck.

But there's no rumors of bad luck about just keeping the turtle, so I don't think you have to worry!
