hi I know how to tell the sexes but how can i know their age?

Hello Harriett, if you do not know the hatch date of the turtle then it is nearly impossible to even guess the age of a turtle. Most people go by length/size of the turtle when they want to know if they are "old enough"

4 inches is maturity when you can tell the difference between the two sexes

4 inches for a male to be sexually mature
6 inches for a female to be sexually mature

Because turtles grow at such different rates it is nearly impossible to go by size compared to age. But that is average.
