Red Eared Slders

Question
My red eared slider escaped from our pond on the 29 of August and I have looked for him in the surrounding grass and then a little in the bush! I was wondering if you knew of any particular spots that he would be hiding and where they like to go in colder days and days with little or no sun? Also I was just wondering if he escaped  would there be a chance of him returning to the pond free will?

I love my turtle and I want  to find him!

Answer
Turtles tend to either stick or run. If it ran, it is heading for a scent of water and may be quite some distance away already, and is unlikely to return.

If it stuck, it is hiding someplace- usually someplace you would never guess it would be in. People find lost turtles months later with the turtle acting like nothing ever happened, and the person looked EVERYWHERE for it.

If there is a specific place it escaped from, it is probably fairly close to that point- hiding in a small hole, under something, etc.- often something you would swear is too small or uncomfortable.

Besides looking, make up a quick flyer for the neighborhood, so if it is in a neighbor's yard, you will get it back!

Good luck!
