Huge freshwater turtle

Question
Hi,
I've seen programs on TV of those big alligator turtles in Louisiana swamps, but do they live elsewhere?  In a creek near where I live that feeds into the St. Johns River in Florida I've seen several large turtles with big heads.  What kind might they be?  The ones I've seen have been approximately 1.5-2 feet long, so not nearly as big as the alligator turtles in the programs, but still really big.  Can you give a link to any pictures?

Answer
Alligator AND regular Common snapping turtles live in Florida, although the huge Alligator is much rarer in its entire range. Common snappers are, indeed, common and can get nice and big as well. Generally, the bigger the snapper, the better hidden it is.
