Question
QUESTION: I have 3 baby res. All about the same size. They are in a 10 gallon tank together.  I sat down to watch them and noticed that bubbles was snapping at yoshi. I freaked out but kept my eye on them to see if bubbles would do snap again but yoshi ran away or swam. I left for a minute and when i came back i saw bubbles going after squirt snapping away. After that i took bubbles out the tank and put her in a plastic bowl for a....time out? well i put bubbles back but now i'm worried about their safety. What should i do? they're babies. A few months old. Please help.

ANSWER: Hello Elizabeth,

A 10 gallon tank doesnt provide enough room for the turtles to establish territory and what you are seeing is dominance,.
The one who is biting and or attacking the others wants to be the Head of the tank and have control./ If thye are in a larger tank with hide areas and with their own room they should stop the behaviour.
If you do not seperate them or place in a larger tank, there may be death of one or both of the ones being dominated. Also food aggression can occur if this is an issue.

Are you using heat lights and uvb?

QUESTION: Yes i have both a uvb light and heating lights. Unfortunately, i don't have neither the space or money to buy a bigger tank right now but what size would be suitable? What can i do meanwhile? Also could it have been that they were hungry? i feed them once a day. Is that enough?

Answer
I am not sure how small the turtles are but a 10 gal is barely sufficent for one baby. You could go to a 30 gallon long and that would be ok for a short while. Re the financial, you can look around you on craigs list and other places and try to get one free.
You can also join a local chapter of a yahoo group called freecycle. there are tanks there.

Please try to upgrade to prevent injury. Once a day depending on how much you feed is sufficent.
