RES shell color changes

Question
Hey.  I have two red-eared sliders.  One is almost three and one is little over two.  The female is older and much bigger than my younger but VERY flirtatious male.  They seem healthy, eat well, love to go outside to "play" and are in what I think is a very nice setup.  Last week I noticed color changes in both of their shells.  They had a teal color hue about them.  In a few days all of the crevices (for lack of a better, more technical word) were teal green in color.  It's like someone took a marker and outlined the crevices on both the top and bottom shell and along the egdes.  They don't seem to have any illness but I find it odd that they turned color at the same time.  I tried to brush it off and even scratched at it a little gently with my nail, but it doesn't come off.  Are you familiar with anything like this?

Answer
The new growth at the edges of the scutes (the scales of the shell) is often a slightly different color.

This is the right time of year to see the new growth, so this is a good sign you are doing things right!
