If a yellow bellied slider lays an egg and no male is around. Will the egg be fertile? Is the egg some what flat.Will the slider try to lay on the egg to protect the egg?

This all depends. Is it a wild turtle? No male has to be around for years for it to be fertile. If she mated years ago she could lay fertile eggs.
