banded sand snake

I just found a banded sand snake and I was wondering if a heating pad under the sand was ok and if the tank must be humid or not.

I am not familiar with the common name "banded sand snake," can you either me a picture of the snake or give me it's scientific name please.  I don't want to give you incorrect advice.  I see you're CA and you said you caught the snake so I can only assume the snake is native to area where you live.  If that is incorrect please advise.
