QuestionHi there,
My female anole is now alone due to the sudden death of her mate. She is laying eggs, but they are small, shrivled and yellow. She lays them right on top of the bedding and the light bakes them! What should I do? I want so bad to raise a baby...but all the eggs just aren't looking right. She's laid 1, then this morning there was another...and what looked like 1/2 of one..should I shut the light off or something? How in heck would I stop them from baking? Please help..thanks
AnswerHi,
thank you for your question.
It may be that the eggs are not fertile and that is why they are so shrivelled and yellow.
Try to offer her boxes filled with moist earth or vermiculite, one placed on the substrate and one placed a bit higher in the terrarium, for example in a plant. Maybe she will bury them there. Then you can see whether the eggs are fertile.
I hope I was of some help
