Question
Hi ya, Iv been reading up lots about my pacman frog because he just wont eat...Iv had him for three weeks now and he just doesnt seem interested. Iv tried feeding him baby pinkies, earthworms too. (this is what the petshop was feeding him) I do all that dangling for him as to make it appear alive. Iv got the coconut stuff for substrate and a heating mat under half of his cage, a water bowl in there too. I purchased a thermo to measure the temp levels and they vary between 68 to 80 on the soil. The humidity is great also according the hydrometer. He has days where he is quite active and i occassionly during the evening i hear him croak. He is a young pacman frog, about 3 inches in diameter. Im worried for him now!! Could anyone help. He has no reddesh to his belly so assuming he's not ill...just wont eat...im worried he'll waste away!!

Answer
Hello...try some crickets or small super worms/wax worms or butter worms silk worms are better then all of the above if you can find them...just drop the bugs in front of him where he can see them and he will lunge at them. If you try a few of the above with no feeding response he needs to see a reptile vet. By the sounds of things the petshop knew nothing about rogs as he shouldnt be eatting a staple diet of pinkies and earth worms...pinkies are too high in fat and earthworms contain no nutrients. Crickets and silk worms make good staples. nd don't listen to any of the myths about worms chewing there way out of the frogs insides once swollowed alive..the worm dies very quickly of suffaction and could never do such a thing!
