Can you help

Answer
Hi George,
When you say "not much money" I am guessing you want one that is less expensive to care for also.
With you wanting a small lizard, one that is inexpensive to keep and doesn't eat live food..that makes it very tough.. Are you willing to buy crickets or other insects?
Here are a few lizards and some of their basic needs..
Leopard Gecko....eats insects...requires a 20 gallon tank and caves for hiding..does not require special uvb lighting..requires a warm area 88-90 degrees...
--------
Crested Gecko.... requires a taller tank than a leopard gecko...eats insects and babyfood fruits...temperatures a little lower than the leopard gecko ...does not require special uvb lighting.....
------------
Anoles....eats insects...requires 20 gallon tank, requires special uvb lighting for its health... requires specific temperatures.
-----------
Bearded dragon.... requires higher temperatures, eats insects and greens/plant matter...requires special uvb lighting...
------
Uromastyx..requires high temperatures, special uvb lighting and eats greens/veggies...possibly some insects depending on species.Requires  50 gallon tank or larger.
----
higher temperatures means higher cost of electricity...
uvb lighting costs for tube...20-30$  a fixture for the tube  20-30$..other heat sources and fixtures can cost about 20$
Soooo...the lizards that are less expensive to keep eat insects...also with any lizard, you must be able to afford any veterinary care that they will need which is always a fecal check for internal parasites. They may also have other health problems that would need a vet.
No reptiles are "cheap" to keep...they all have their special needs which is vital to their health.
If you have an idea as to what lizard from my suggestions above, let me know and I can give you more information on the species.
If you are ok with at least feeding insects, then a leopard gecko or a crested gecko would be your best choice.   Here is a link that has pictures of several gecko species... http://www.milwaukeereptiles.com/geckoList.php
Do remember that some geckos can cost hundreds of dollars. Cost wise, the normal leopard gecko is the least with various colors being more expensive. If you follow links there, you will be able to see the prices of many of the various species.
