infrared heat bulbs???

Question
Hi, i wanted to know if infrared bulbs would be a good source of heat. I have two leopard geckos. Also, is it true they can't see the infrared bulbs? Thanks for writing back.

Answer
Hi Matt, Both the infrared lights and the ceramic heat emitters are fine for leos.  If the room they are in is dark, I do suggest some sort of white light for them during the day..nothing bright but even though they are nocturnal, they do see daylight and I even use low uvb emitting tubes on mine for daytime light.
As far as them seeing it....many will argue as that there are many lizards that are bothered greatly by the red heat lights, so I would say that to some extent they can "see" it. Here is a really neat link that shows various reptiles/mammals under infrared lighting and how they absorb the heat.
