QuestionMy basilisk lizard has dry gangrene on the tip of his tail. How much would it cost to have it amputated/treated?
AnswerHello Kristin,
What has caused your basilisk to have tail rot, an injury? Are you housing him with another mail, or did he have retained tail shed? Can you post a picture of it?
The amount of tail needing to be amputated will depend on how far up the necrosis has or is going. You want to get enough of the dead tissue in case there is infection.
The cost is so variable from vet to vet, but will probably cost you at least $200 minimum plus the vet office visit.
