layers of scales over gecko eyes

Question
Hi! We have a leopard gecko who has been shedding continuosly to the point that she was having a hard time keeping up with removing them. We helped her get some of the layers off and got her to a point where she would be able to take off the rest--which she did---the only think that was left were her eyes. She then tried and tried to rub herself against different things to get the scales off her eyes but instead of them coming of they were pushed in more. So today, we took a risk and removed one of the scales from her eyes---after this all this greenish/yellowish ooze came out (freaked us out--but it looks like the same pus that comes out when you have an infection) and though she looks relieved we are freaked out....it doesn't look like we got her eye but they again she does keep it shut...please help! We don't know where to go for a 'gecko vet' and we figured they would have probably tried to do the same and we just don't know what to do but to sit tight for right now. (PS the other eye still has the scales...also she kept licking her eye when the ooze came out and seemed relieved so we know she's trying to help herself but well, it's still scary)I hope to hear from you soon.

Answer
Hello!

Oh boy, it sounds like she got an infection caused by the retained scales over her eyes.  Is the other one looking like it is going to get infected now, or can you tell yet?
Do you have a hide/cave in her tank, with some moss in there moistened daily to help with shedding?
You can give her a bath to help with the retained eye caps, that could help.
I sell an antibiotic eye ointment called Terramycin, on my reptile supply website if you want to try that.  There isn't much else the vet would do, but probably give an eye ointment as well.
Here is my site if you want to take a look:
