Question
QUESTION: I recently got a golden gecko. the last two days it has not been able to stick to the glass, it just slides off. It can still climb on branches. it is eating. I amnot sure why this would happen is there a reason and what can I do.

ANSWER: Hello Amanda,

Now that is an odd predicament!
When you first got the gecko could it climb or stick to the glass?
What type of substrate are you using?
How humid is it in the tank?  How old is he?
It could be too humid in there I suppose.
Do you have a picture of him?

QUESTION: Yes whenI first got himhe could stick. I am using paper towel on the bottom as some sites I looked on say it is ok. I amnot sure how humid it but I have a sreen on top andafter I spray it seems to dry pretty quikly. Not sure of the age butheis about 7 to 9 inches from snout to tail. I do not have a picture of him right now but could probably get one. This morning his colouring had gone quite dark he is normaly gold on top andvery light purple on legs this morning he was dark purple and green he is now back to normal colour.

Answer
Hello Amanda,

The paper towels are perfectly fine, no problems there.
What are the temperatures in the tank, & what type of thermometer do you use?  A stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun?
What type of basking light are you using?
It sounds like a thermoregulation problem, so he may be too cold.  He does need a daytime temperature to bask in at around 78-85 roughly & can go to around 70-75 at night.
