Question
Hi. We found a baby rabbit in our planter and there are no signs of the mother that we could find.  The baby is about the size of a tennis ball.  What should we do with it?  Will it survive if we turn it loose?  Will it survive if we keep it?  What is the best thing to do for the bunny.  It looks like a wild baby rabbit.

Thanks for your help.

Lynn

Answer
Wild rabbits have different needs than domestic rabbits, so we're not really
experts in that area. We suggest you contact a wildlife rehabilitation or
rescue organization to get the best advice on what to feed the little
bunny, treatment tips, and whether it can be introduced eventually back
into the wild.

A good site is http://www.tc.umn.edu/~devo0028/contact.htm which has
information on care and  an extensive list of wildlife rehabilitators
throughout the United States.

Whether the orphan is wild or domestic, the page
http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/orphan.html has tips on immediate care
for both.

Thanks for caring, and good luck.
