My Bunnies Meet...Help!

Question
My baby for 5 months was Sugar, my little cutie pie Dwarf.  Though shy, she was usually mild mannered and affectionate.  Well we finally got the second bunny we had been hoping for, Coco, a Holland Lop who is 2 months old.  We brought her in put her in her cage and kept her a short distance from Sugar's cage.  Sugar came out to explore and at 1st seemed calm, then freaked. She tried lunging/growling at the cage & me.  She couldnt stop thumping either.  Later when she was more chill laying down I pet her, etc and got a nip on my cheek.  Small, but it hurt.  Im very afraid of her hurting or scaring the baby.  Sugar is scheduled to be fixed in mid-Sept. They are both girls if I forgot to mention.  Well I tried moving them to "neutral" ground, my room.  Their cages are close enough to observe each other, but not touch.  With the cages nearly touching Sugar had growled at the smallest thing.  Im pretty worried and upset right now.  Can you please help me? Give me some advice? Thank you

Answer
Hi Allison,
Well it sounds as if you're doing the right thing in trying to bond them, but with the female first of all being 5 months may be a bit hormonal and secondly shes been used to one to one attention and is probably jealous. The best thing to do is carry on with what you're doing, then try again when she has been spayed, they will be a bit used to each other by this time too. It is a long process and should not be done lightly and I'm afraid you'll have to be a bit patient!
I hope this helped
Katie
