rabbit grooming/skin and coat

I have a mini french lop who  is about 3 years old.  I have noticed his fur is getting thin in some small patches and the skin under the patches is very flacky and dry and very scally.  He also has  seemed to have stopped grooming himself this past week, and has crusty patches of fur on his coat and around his eye.  Please give me some ideas as what this could be and  how to treat it.  I have been trying to groom him, but haven't seen any improvement.  Thanks!

There are a number of things this could be.  You might check out http://homepage.mac.com/mattocks/morfz/rabrefs.html#skin which lists different skin problems and see if any of them match what you are seeing.

If nothing else, you could take him to a rabbit-knowledgeable vet and have him checked out.
