Rabbit has red, raw, crusty paws

Question
Hi, my name's Rebecca and my question pertains to my  New Zealand male rabbit named Ostara.
He has a flat bottom cage without a litter pan (i aquired him recently this year and he is around 3 years old). I am about to get him neutered.

Anyway, on the underside of both his front paws they are incredibly chapped and "ouch" looking. They are both red, raw, and crusty. Also, there is a small patch of hair on his back that he has been biting at. I checked it out and didn't see any red or crust there.  There's also tiny hairless spots on his ears (I believe he had some of those when i got him).

He doesn't walk on hocks, and he doesn't play outside, so I don't know why his paws are chapped.
I tried to bandage them but had no luck, after putting some neosporin on them.

Also, I believe I recently acquired ringworm. I have a small patch of it on the side of my right breast (dont ask me how, but i am putting antifungal cream on it and washing my hands after). My husband and I believe it's a possibility that Ostara has it and gave it to me.  But i dont see any "ring"  except for hairless dots on his ears.

If you could help me in some small way to maybe figure out what the problem is, and how to solve it, then that would be great. I feel so bad with him having those sore paws.  He needs to be a happy bunny! :)

Answer
Does he have a runny nose, that he might have been cleaning constantly and made his paws raw?

Information on ringworm in rabbits can be found at http://homepage.mac.com/mattocks/morfz/rabrefs.html#fungus Certainly that has made rabbits have red skin, and it can get infected.

If you can take him to the vet, you can have him tested for ringworm, and there are several different topical treatments for it.

Ringworm is transmittable to humans.

You might have him checked out to make sure there isn't any infection or anything else going on.

The vet may have you put ointment on his feet and then wrap them in vet wrap.  Which isn't that hard - keeping it on is another thing.
