Question
I had a minilop & lost him because I gave him to much freedom. Not sure if he ingested carpeting or from chewing on my nite stand.needless to say my heart was broke because I thought I had done a good job of rabbit proofing my home.
Now I have a 4 month old that loves to chew, dig, & bunch, blankets, towels, that I take away from him .He doesn't like toys, baskets, pieces of wood, cardboard or paper.I would like to keep him entertained. What kind of material can I give him to bunch, dig at & chew.I spend alot of time with him & never leave him alone.
Thanks,
Sharon

Answer
Hi Sharon,

wicker tubes, tents, and balls are great for chewers.

Seagrass mats from the pet store are good.

Untreated pine wood is good.

Hard plastic baby teething keys are great.  They can nibble and toss.

And, as long as he's not eating it, give him a diggy pile of cut-up cotton tshirts and towels.  They will chew holes into them, but they may not eat them.  My guys have shirts in tatters but they never eat anything.

Give your rabbits petromalt daily, a little squirt on your finger is good.  It helps lube the gi tract and helps prevent hair blockages.

Also, keep in mind that being 4 months old, he's probably reaching sexual maturity and will soon need to be scheduled for a neuter.  It will keep him from having his hormones override his normal personality.  Not all vets are good rabbit vets, start here to find a good one:
