dead rabbit....help?

Question
hello. we found 2 baby rabbits a few months ago outside. their mother abandoned them..so we took them in. just today one of the rabbits died. we, at first, thought that the other rabbit that was in the same cage with him, ate his ears. but we noticed that that couldn't have been the case because there was no blood or "left over" ear. it looked like they were just clean gone. could you tell me what happened to our dead bunnies ear? thank you.

Answer
It is rare to find babies that were actually abandoned. Mother rabbits only feed their babies once or twice a day, usually during the night or early morning hours. So it is not unusual to never see the mother with them.

As for the ears, it could have been rats or if they were outside it could have been a dog. If the ears were missing, something ate them. What it was is hard to say for sure. If they ate it after the rabbit died, there would be little to no blood, so it could have been the other rabbit.
