No Place to Rest

Question
I've had this little guy for close to 8 months now, and I've never been able to give him a comfortable place to lay down. Anytime I've tried to place a towl on the wires on the floor of his cage, he's always torn them to shreds (he won't lay on the shreds either). I even tried to put a small animal bed for him, and he started chewing on that too. What must I do so my bunny can have a place to rest his little head?

Answer
Dear Masis,

How much time does your bunny get to run outside his cage?  A rabbit is highly intelligent, social, and easily bored.  What your bunny is doing is just acting out his frustration at not being able to run and play more.

All our rabbits have free run of the house, and once your bunny is properly litterbox trained:

after being neutered:

you can train him to be a respectful member of the household.  I am betting his destructive behavior will cease once he's (1) neutered and (2) allowed to run and play much more than he's now able to do.

Once he's neutered, you also can contact your local rabbit rescuer to arrange a "blind date" so he can pick a spayed companion.  Two bunnies are less bored than one, less destructive than one, and are actually less upkeep, except for a tiny bit more food and whatever veterinary care they might require.  But the payoff is definitely worth it.

I hope this helps!  Please write back if you have any other questions.
