Question
hello, my rabbit is a mini lop and is 2 years old. She recently sprained ankle two days ago. she is recovering pretty well but i wanted to know if her foot will recover soon? she is so full of life and i just want her to get better. also do you have any suggestions as to helping her recover? like exercising her foot?

Answer
Dear Emily,

Has a vet looked at her foot?  To be sure it's just a sprain,  and not something more serious, you should ask a rabbit-savvy vet to have a look.  You can find one here:

www.rabbit.org/vets

If it's a sprain, there's no way to know for sure how long it will take for her to completely recover.  It all depends on where she was hurt, what part of the tissue suffered trauma, and how extensive the trauma is.

If she's putting any weight on the foot at all, then the prognosis is pretty good.  But if she is not putting any weight on it at all, then you really MUST get her to the vet, as this is a sign that a bone could be broken, or that she might have dislocated or seriously hurt something.

I hope this helps.  Please write back if you have any other questions.
