Question
Hello, I am getting into breeding holland lops nothing extrem only one pair. I was wondering about minamum cage sizes for this breed and at what age they can be bred? also are there certion colors that shouldn't be bred together?

Answer
For the beginner breeder I do not reccommend Hollands.  They are one of the hardest rabbits to breed.  The doe's don't get bred easily and the litters (if they have any at all) are small with only 1-3 babies. Many holland does are also horrible mothers and often lose their litters.

A 24X24 cage is OK for a buck, but a doe that will have Litters should have one larger to accomodate the nesting box and still have plenty of room.  Rabbits can typically breed at about 5 months.  If you really want a good breed to begin a rabbitry with, I suggest the mini rex.  They are approximately the same size at the holland with a super soft fur and wonderful disposition.  They are easy to breed and are typically great mothers.
