Question
Dear Brenda,
We have a Mini Rex.  He has a cage in a large (7' x 5') enclosure with vinyl flooring.  The door to his cage is open so he can go out and exercise whenever he wants.  However, he sometimes has difficulty on the floor as it's a little slippery.  It's usually only when he's sitting still.  Any ideas?
Second question:  We put toilet paper tubes in his enclosure.  Are there other toys you recommend?  How about bones that dogs chew on or other dog toys?
And lastly, when we brought Lila home she had very long nails so we trimmed them with no problem.  However, now she does not sit still so it's very difficult to trim her nails.
I appreciate any help you can provide.

Answer
For the flooring try using some carpet remnants or bathroom rugs that can easily be laundered so he can get some traction.

Check out Ebay - I have some friends that sell some great rabbit toys there.  Generally - anything that is sold for a rabbit, gerbil, guinea pig, hamsters etc can be given to a rabbit to gnaw on and play with.  I wouldn't recommend the dog raw hides or rubber toys that may get chewed into small pieces and choked on.

To trim nails hold the bunny like a football with head tucked in the crook of your elbow for a better grip. Have someone hold and you trim then switch arms for the other two feet. Use a dog's nail trimmer for best results.
