Collars

Question
We have an adorable 8 wk old Mini Rex bunny that we are completely in love with. He is our house companion, and we enjoy his antics and affection thoroughly.  He is basically litter box trained, but we let him out of his house only when we are present to supervise.
Question:  We have a kitten break-away collar on Granite, our bunny, that has a little bell attached.  We like this because we can hear where he is at all times.  We are new rabbit people, and I have yet to see a picture or read anything about bunnies with collars.  Is there any harm for a bunny to wear a collar? And is there any harm for there to always be a bell tinkling as he moves about?

Thank you for your help in this matter.

Sincerly,
Bryan and Celia Hansen

Answer
As long as he doesn't try to get it off or chew on it, there's no problem leaving it on him, since it is a breakaway collar. If it starts upsetting him, though, you will want to remove it.  Most rabbits don't like anything around their necks (including leashes).

I have only known one bunny to wear a collar, and he didn't have any issues with it and had worn it for several years.

I like those kind on my cats so I can tell where they are.
