Question
my rabbit broke his jaw nearly a week ago he has been to the vets who has wired his bottomjaw back to correct position. we are still syringe feeding him he is trying to eat chopped/shredded veg but finds it difficult and gives up atfer just a tiny amount is this normal? how long do we leave him before taking him back to the vet is there anything else we can try to get him to eat veg? he can't finish a small spinich leaf without giving up

Answer
It may be that he still can't chew yet, if I had just broken my jaw a week ago I certainly wouldn't be interested in eating solid foods.

I would check with the vet and find out when he thinks your rabbit will be ready to chew solid foods.

In the meantime, there are lots of nutritious things you can feed him with a syringe, these are listed at http://homepage.mac.com/mattocks/morfz/rabrefs.html#feeding
