Bonding - neutered males

Question
I have just adopted (on trial - dependent on bonding) a neutered male mixed breed rabbit for my neutered male Flemish Giant, but they're fighting.  They didn't fight at the rescue centre when I took my rabbit to visit and I've tried to bond them according to my vet's instructions: housing them side by side in hutches and (attempting# to bond them for 15-20 minutes a day.  These bonding sessions take place in what I think is a neutral area - one of the few places in the garden and house my Flemish Giant has never been - with food, litter tray, some open ended boxes, etc.  I've even taken them on a car ride before the session, but they still fight (almost straight away).  While it's only been five days, I'm wondering if it's a match that isn't going to work or if there is another technique I can try?  Also, I've been swapping their hutches, as I'd read this was a good idea, and giving them turns in the garden during the day, however I'm wondering if this is aggravating the situation, as my Giant Flemish has traditionally free-ranged all day and sees the garden, and hutch, as his. I'm also worried about the stress this may be causing the new rabbit who has both the stress of bonding and relocating to deal with.  I'd really appreciate your advice as to what to do next.  Thank you.

Answer
Dear Jessica,

It's much harder to bond two rabbits of the same sex than of opposite sex, even if everyone is fixed.  If they are fighting, it's not a good sign, and this might not be a good match.  But if you want to continue trying, you can find just about every bonding trick in the book here:

I hope that will help.

Good luck!
