what is safe for rabbits

i want to disinfect my rabbits cage, waterbottle, food bowl, ext. is there anything around the house that i can use to do this and is safe for bunnies? if not, what disinfectant should i get and where can i get it? thanks!

Dear Leah,

The safest way to disinfect the cage would be to empty it completely, take it outside, and rinse it down with a solution of 10% bleach.  Scrub off the dirt, and then rinse *very* well with the hose.   Allow all surfaces to dry in the sun, which will provide additional disinfectant power.

Once it's dry, just bring it back in and load 'er up!  :)
