-----Question-----
My rabbit is 11 months old. he is normally an outdoor rabbit.  recently due to bad weather we have allowed him to come inside. at first he was very good doing his toilet outside, but more recently he has started to run around my legs sniffing and  trying to climb on me.  at the same time he leaves little poos around the place, as if its a present for me, i have also noticed him spraying/weeing around the rooms. But he does not do this to any other members of the family. could you please explain this behaviour. by the way he is an only rabbit, no other pets, never had any vaccinations, he appears to be in good health.
-----Answer-----
Dear Anthonet,

Your rabbit is reaching sexual maturity, and he has chosen you as the object of his desire. :)

To stop these hormone-driven behaviors, neutering is the answer. But you need to have this done by a rabbit-savvy vet with experience:

You can get more information here:

and here:

Hope that helps.

Answer
Dear Anthonet,

He will calm down *some* with age.  But there's no telling how much, or how long it will take.  But if you want these behaviors to stop, then neutering is really the only alternative.

I can understand your nervousness about neutering.  When I had my first bunny (Gryphon) neutered, I chickened out the first time, and had to make a second appointment several weeks later.  But he did calm down, and didn't have a major personality change.

The decisions will have to be between you and your bunny.  If you can stand the behaviors, then you can wait and see if they resolve with time.  You can also get some tips on how to discourage objectionable behaviors from the folks at behavior@rabbit.org

Hope that helps.
