Question
i need to know what to feed these baby rabbits so they will not die, they aren't that old but their eyes are open and they have all their fur?

Answer
Hi Ashley,

if these are wild rabbits, the best thing to do is if you know where the 'nest' was, to put them back.  The mother will come back for them and it won't matter if she smells you on them.  She'll still take care of them.

If they are domestic rabbits (basically if they are any color other than wild rabbits) they need you to take care of them as someone abandoned them.

You can get puppy/animal milk replacement from a pet supply store.  If you can't get to one until tomorrow you can give them milk with the highest amount of fat in it that you have, even cream.  Use a PLASTIC dropper and feed them slowly so it doesn't accidentally go into their lungs.  You should also get something called "Bene-Bac" at the pet supply store and feed a bit of this to them every day - it puts good bacteria into their system they will need to eat and digest things well.  If they don't carry it, get some acidophilus (it comes in different forms) and give it to them (this is a good bacteria).

You can always have timothy and alfalfa hay around them, it is okay for them to nibble this.  In a couple weeks you can start giving them small amounts of timothy pellets (pellets only) from a good brand like Oxbow.  Pet supply stores should have the hays and the pellets as well.

Feel free to write back anytime.  A good resource for info on kits is the House Rabbit Society web site (www.rabbit.org).

Search on "newborn", "babies", and "nutrition".  You will find a great treasure of info you can read and print out for reference.
