Question
I am trying to hand rear some rabbits at the moment. I am after some helpful info, mainly referring to their nutrition and growth. Due to the formula i am currently using they seem slightly smaller which i expected. I know that the mother is meant to feed the kits cecotropes to get their normal gut flora working but that is impossible for my self to get a hold of. Do you know of any other alternative to cecotropes?

Answer
Unfortunately, there isn't really any good alternative. However, you can mix a little Pedialyte into their formula to help boost their electrolytes without adding any sugar (which is bad for rabbits, especially babies). Also, you can place some regular rabbit feces from a healthy rabbit in the box for them to chew on. Babies generally chew on these from the mother a bit, which also helps with starting up the proper bacterial balance.
